Google has stopped READING my sitemap.

I am not referring to the “can’t fetch” error.

It is showing in GSC as “success”.

I am referring to the READ date that has stopped changing.

Previously the READ date was updating every day.

Any help will be really appreciated.

I have the same issue.. did you find the solution?

    Hi,

No, I did not find the solution.

do you by any chance use a plugin that re-lists or re-publishes posts?

I am thinking that maybe, just maybe, Google does not like the SAME post being published again and again, and maybe it considers it spam, this is the only thing I can think of, and no one seems to know or care about this problem.

I am using creative ways to “help” Google discover all the posts even without a sitemap though.

Nop I don’t use a plugin that re list or re publish posts.. But I have this issue with my two sites I don know what wrong.. I never have this issue before.. Only one of my site it sitemap accepted

Could you please conduct a live sitemap URL test so that Google can hit the sitemap properly without any issues? https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9012289?hl=en#test_live_page
    Thanks.

    Hello,

yes, Google bot can access and read the site map without any issue, and delivers a green “success” message.

please read the problem description above again.

the issue is that Google is not “reading” the sitemap, the “read” date and the number of URLs has not changed in months.

    Many thanks.

You can’t force Google to recrawl the URLs. It is up to Google if they want to.
A sitemap is checked only the first time that google notices it, and thereafter only when you ping into it.

If I understand your question correctly, you are changing the URLs and modifying content and it’s not reflected in the sitemap, is this what’s happening at the moment?

Every day I have plenty of pots being created and updated.

this is normally reflected in the sitemap.

Up to May 27 of this year, every single day the “date” of the “read” in Google search console was changing to the current date, telling me that google was “reading” the sitemap every single date. But since May 27, the date in the “read” column remains May 27, and there is NO change in the number of URLs discovered, although the number has doubled.

I have this exact same problem in 2 sites, both starting from May 27.

I would like to take this opportunity to report another issue; I have one very large site, 750,000 pages, and it is not even possible to generate the sitemap.

I have a dedicated server with memory set to “unlimited”, but still, it eventually stops and cannot generate the sitemap.

at the same time, the default sitemap of WordPress generates in about 3 seconds.

as this is costing me a LOT in terms of pages indexed, I am very willing to pay for private support if you can help me with this.

Sure, we can help you. Please go to “About this Plugin” -> “Help / FAQ” inside the plugin page (look at the right sidebar section) and fill out the form, we can take things from there.
