• Hello,

I am using XML Sitemap & Google News for my new website (https://nagalandexpress.com). In Google search result, my website is always listed either on the first or second pages for most of my publications. But under the news tab / top stories, not even single news is listed from my website. Could you help me to fix this error. here is my google news sitemap submitted in google search console, (https://nagalandexpress.com/news-sitemap.xml) – This is the submitted and indexed sitemap in Google console, this is from Jetpack news site map.

Apparently, if i open Google news site map from my website, i am getting this sitemap, the keyword(s) and stock(s) is showing empty for this (https://nagalandexpress.com/sitemap-news.xml). This site map is not submitted in the Google search console.

I have successfully created Google publisher account for my website, my news is listed in Google news. here is the google news link: https://news.google.com/s/CBIwuLTMzEQ?sceid=IN:en&r=11&oc=1

Here is my website sitemap: https://nagalandexpress.com/sitemap_index.xml

I have been trying each and everything in my website to get it listed under Google news tab. I have even search with my full headlines, some of the headlines have no search result under google news tab, but still my website is not listed, not even for a single search results under news tab.

I have approached Google news help center, they reverted back saying that my website is listed successfully and they told to search (site:nagalandexpress.com) to see the results under google search news tab.

I would be really grateful if you could help me out in fixing this issue.

    Thank You.

  • Hi, has your site been accepted into Google News since a long time or just recently? I’ve seen many times before that newly accepted news sites get indexed — like you have https://news.google.com/publications/CAAqBwgKMMnElgswrOqtAw and your site appears on https://www.google.com/search?q=site:nagalandexpress.com&tbm=nws — but their posts do not actually get propagated yet. I do not get any of your posts when searching https://news.google.com/search?q=NagalandExpress for example.

I don’t think you can solve this or force Google News to come through sooner with your news sitemap. You can only make sure that your site sections are well defined in your Publisher Center so that you might get into niche news sooner than in other news sections.

My website is in Google news for few months and as of today, we have around 114 followers in Google news.

Do you think if I change Jetpack news sitemap to XML Sitemap & Google News (https://nagalandexpress.com/sitemap-news.xml) as explained in my first message, does it make any impact or I may get into news tab in Google search?

Also I wanted to know, in XML Sitemap & Google News site map, I can see keyword(s) and stock(s) field empty. What are this two fields, how it help the sitemap, can you also enlighten me on this too.

    Thank you!

Like I said, I do not think Google News will change how/where it propagates your news depending on your news sitemap. Unless you generate specific business/finance news, then you might benefit from the Stock field. This provides Google News with quick information about the post and its relation to the stock market. The keywords field is in theory for helping find news niches faster but Google News officially dropped support for that a while back, in favor of settings in the Publisher Center.
