Google News and /en/ version of the site

    Hello

    We are using WPML for multilanguage and yoast free version for SEO.

    Our site with default language and xxx.com/en/ versions are fully verified from google’s search console very long time ago.

    My question is;

    The xxx.com/en/ version web site has included in Google news but looking at the search console we did not submitted /en/ version of the site map. Since yoast site map included href lang codes, I have seen somewhere that we dont need to submit xxx.com/en/sitemap_index.xml.

    To make sure google news dont ignore our unique posts I open the /en/ version site from google search console and submitted xxx.com/en/sitemap_index.xml.

    Do you think it is the right way, or google will penalize us for duplicate sitemap submission?
