• I made a map in Google My Maps and implemented it into my website. At first sight it looks good, but when I click on a link from the hiking label, I get the following notification:

    Diversion notice
The page you are on is trying to send you to https://www.wegvanwandelen.nl/weg-van-oudemirdum-13-km/. If you don’t want to visit that page, you can go back to the previous page.

I searched on the Internet, but didn’t find the answer yet I hope anyone here knows how to fix this problem. I also asked for feedback at My Maps Help, but they never answered.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @dwarrel66

This is an anti-phishing measure implemented by Google and, unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do about it.

I would recommend switching to a map based on OSM (OpenStreetMap). Take a look at uMap https://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/: You will also be able to embed your custom map in your website, and you can even choose a base layer from a wide selection. You’ll certainly find one that’s perfect for hiking, like OpenTopoMap or Outdoors. Moreover, it’s free, open-source and privacy-friendly. It would be a winning solution all round imho.

    Hi @luk4

Thanks for your answer. I was surprised to read that this is an anti-phishin measure by Google. Because there are plenty websites where MyMaps does work without the diversion notice.

I will take a look at uMap. Thanks for the advice.
