Google Microdata

Hi,
A few questions on the microdata markup for Google…
1. I followed the instructions, checked box for “don’t show recipe image in post”. The instructions say this will allow that image to be found for rich snippets. My recipe image is not showing up in search results. Am I reading that instruction correctly? Is there a size limitation that I’m exceeding, and breaking the result?

2. I have Yoast SEO plugin, and specified a meta desctiption for the page. I used the Summary dialog in the recipe as well. Neither of those blurbs show up in search results. Instead, Google is displaying the first sentence and half of the second as the description. Any idea what is causing them to reject both/either of the pieces of metadata I’m supplying?
