Google language category
-
Hi,
Is it correct if I set the language setting to German that the Google category language is set to English?
Best regards Carsten

Hi @carstenwh,
Thanks for your question. Yes, for Google it makes no difference. Your products will be set to the correct category automatically.
Thank you for the super quick reply. Can I transfer the settings later to the Pro Plugin?
When you switch to the Pro version of our plugin, all settings remain as they where.
As a backup you can also make a backup of your settings in the Feed Manager -> Settings page and restore them later on the Pro version. But that should not be necessary.
Thanks for the detailed answer. Just a quick word about the categories. With the Germans I have numbers:
4678 - Baby & Kleinkind > Baby Badebedarf 4679 - Baby & Kleinkind > Baby Badebedarf > Babybadewannen 7082 - Baby & Kleinkind > Baby Badebedarf > Shampoo-Schutzschilder 5252 - Baby & Kleinkind > Baby Gesundheitsbedarf 6290 - Baby & Kleinkind > Baby Gesundheitsbedarf > Baby-Gesundheits- & Pflegesets
Isn’t it in the plugin?
Best regards Carsten
Hi @carstenwh,
Yes, that is also possible. In the category selector your can choose the option “Select by category number” and then you can just enter the correct number.
Unfortunately, only the wheel turns and then only the number is there
Did you get the spinning wheel after you entered a number or after you tried to regenerate the feed?
If it’s after you tried to regenerate the feed I think it an unfortunate coincidence. You could try the following steps to free the feed process again:
1. Make sure you have the latest version of our plugin installed.
2. Open the Feed Manager -> Settings page and make sure you have the “Disable background processing” option switched OFF.
3. Then click the “Clear feed process” button and then try to regenerate the feed again (even if the feeds status is ready). If that still did not solve the issue, could you please check for error log files in any of the following places:
1) On the WooCommerce -> Status -> Logs page
2) In the ‘wp-content’ folder on your server
3) In the ‘wp-content/plugins/wp-product-feed-manager’ folder on your server.`
If that still does not work, could you pleaseUnfortunately I’m doing something wrong. If I click on it to enter the numbers, it jumps back to the beginning. If I enter the numbers there and press enter, the wheel spins and then nothing happens. Am I wrong in thinking?

The first part is correct. As soon as you click on the “W?hlen Sie nach Kategorienummer” option, the selectors should disappear and a single input field should be shown.
In that single input field you should enter the main category number, so like “7082” for the “Baby & Kleinkind > Baby Badebedarf > Shampoo-Schutzschilder” category.
Just to be sure, you only enter one single number. Only for the main category that Google should use for the feed products.
Hi Michael,
thank you very much for your answer and your help. I tried again with the numbers. It doesn’t matter if I only use one or four, the wheel turns and when it’s done, only the number is there.
What am I doing wrong?
Best regards Carsten
Ok Carsten, what category number do you want to use?
For example, I’ve tried 7082 and various others.
Rereading your description I have the idea you expect the number will change in the corresponding category, but that’s not the case in our plugin.
After you’ve entered the number the spinning wheel will indicate that our plugin is checking the required attributes and after that it just will show the number, nothing more.
The thing is that the “Default category” setting is only used to set the correct required and optional attributes for this feed, and (as long as you keep the selected categories in the Category Mapping table on “Map to default category”) for all your shop categories.
As Google also accepts a category number, our plugin gives you the option to enter a number that represents the category you want to use for the Google feed. That number will then be used in the feed (Google accepts a number in the feed as google_product_category).
The option to use a number has been added on request of a user who had a lot of categories in his own shop and wanted to make a feed with a lot of remapped categories (in the Category Mapping table) and wanted to use numbers in stead of having to pick every single category from the dropdown menu’s.
If you’re not using the Category Mapping table for a lot of categories, I would suggest you just use the pull down menus to select the Default Categorie. I think that’s the most obvious way and it’s only two or three selections. Alternative is indeed to just enter a number there.
After selection just press the “Save and generate feed” button and the feed should be ok for Google.
Let me know if the description above was clear or if I was wrong in my assumption.
Hello @carstenwh,
Where you able to solve the issue with the description above? Can we close your topic?
Hi,
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to test it yet.
