Hi, today I got a mail from Google Search Console Team saying that a New Page Indexing Issue detected on one of my site, the message is like below:

Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 1 Page indexing issue(s). The following issues were found on your site.

    Top Issues

Blocked due to other 4xx issue
We recommend that you fix these issues when possible to enable the best experience and coverage in Google Search.

When I check the console, I see this example url given:
    https://www.mysite.com/wp-json/wp/v2/a_cpt?_embed&per_page=

I don’t know how this URL got indexed, so anybody can tell how this is happening and how we can restrict these URLs from indexing. FYI, I am using Yoast free version, but I don’t see any settings for this purpose.

  • Hi,

The URL may be indexed via sitemap or some indexing API for example the Yoast plugin itself.

If you do not wish to index such URLs, I suggest using metatags for what exact content should be indexed on the website. You may find more information on how to do it HERE.

@auuurimas For now I have already added Robot.txt to disallow the /wp-json/, and I have checked the sitemap and I don’t see these URLs on that. I still wonder how these URLs getting indexed, I never see this before.
