• Hello,

After taking a while to index the post pages on my blog, google suddenly went mad and started indexing everything in site. At first I thought good, the googlebot is rushing about my pages, however now not so good I think. It seems that google is having problems on which page or pages to show in SERPs. For example yesterday morning the main page was getting indexed to the search term I SEO’d for, last night that went and a category page was listed for the same search, today the TOS page is presented!

I am using the 2011 theme and have not changed any of the basic directories WP creates, except to add some plugins. I think I need a robots.txt file but I don’t really know what to put in it as I don’t know where WP stores stuff.

    Any help be really appreciated.

    Sandra

  • You might have to create a sitemap and a robot.txt file as well to make sure that “mad” doesn’t starts to index your attachment pages and script files ??

It’s your job to tell Google what to and not to index – not theirs. Nothing mad about it, standard procedure!
