Thematic theme.

I downloaded the file onto my Mac but I can’t run it. Any idea how to get this program to run?

No, not at all — the regular free version works great. There is also a lot of helpful documentation on the MAMP site on the installation if you need it. I had no problems getting it set up and running when I first installed on my Macs (iMac and MacBook Air).

Also, back to your initial question — WordPress in general is SEO friendly and there are also plug-ins that you can use to help maximize it on a site. Also look at and use Google webmaster tools. SEO is also very dependent on your content. So the theme is really not the primary variable in most cases when it comes to SEO.

Ok. Great advice. But then my question would be why would someone take the time to build a theme that is SEO/google friendly if it really doesn’t matter? Just curious.

I think many developers are motivated by writing excellent code — and in this case, really trying to write code that helps SEO as much as possible. (A few are probably just trying to sell themes ?? )

A well-coded theme CAN certainly help – just that it’s not the only factor and many WP themes will be fine even if they are not specifically advertised as such. The other thing is that SEO changes because Google’s algorithms change over time — so there are no absolutes and certainly no magic. And a theme won’t make up for poor content…

So I am to the point of create new database in phpMYAdmin but there is not an option like that by only clicking on phpMYAdmin. I can click on database and create database with Collation. There is also the option to check – information_schema, mysql and or performance_schema. There is also a note:Note: Enabling the database statistics here might cause heavy traffic between the web server and the MySQL server.

I don’t want to screw this up so what do you suggest?

I went to the MAMP support and posted my issue with creating a database a week ago. I still have not heard back. Can anyone give a suggestion as to how to proceed?

To start the MAMP Apache and MySQL servers, simply click “Start Servers” from the main MAMP screen. Your MAMP servers have now been started.

Once the MAMP servers start, the MAMP start page should open in your default web browser. If not, click on “Open start page” in the MAMP window. Once that’s open, select phpMyAdmin from the webpage.

Under “Create new database”, enter in a database name such as “wordpress”, and press “Create.”

I am a total novice at this and don’t want to screw up the installation. Once I open phpMYADMIN there is no option to “Create new database” There is a tab for database but that is it.

Can someone please advice me so I do not make a mistake? Should I just click on database once I open phpmyadmin?
