This morning I released v0.87 of Google Forms. This update includes a new check upon save to make sure the source Google Form is the proper format. I added this check because of the large number of questions I receive about why the form controls don’t show up which is due to Google changing the core implementation of Google Forms.

The current (or “new”) version of Google Forms is largely Javascript based and doesn’t use traditional HTML input elements to build the form. As such, supporting it with the Google Forms plugin using the same methodology the plugin used with the older (original?) version of Google Forms isn’t practical. I am not sure it is even possible. I’ve looked into supporting the new version of Google Forms a couple of times and each time I do, I find a dead end. As long as Google supports the ability to downgrade a Google Form, this plugin will continue to work. If at some points, Google removes that feature, this plugin will no longer work.

If someone wants to take a crack at supporting new Google Forms, the plugin is hosted on GitHub.
