    Hello there,

I have put the link to my form in the anchor text. When I try to embed the embed code I get this message “sorry this content could not be embedded”. I just copy-pasted the embed code from google forms. It this a WordPress issue? I do not want to get a plugin just to put up one form. When I first entered the embed code it said: “enter a URL”.

I have read the forums and other people have said it may be a plugin. So I tried it on another site and it still won’t work.

Any thoughts? Thank you for your help in advance.

  • Can you share your embed code so I can try it out? Since this is for a public form, there’s no security issue on posting the code publicly. Be sure to use the CODE button when you paste the code in your response, so the forum software will not mangle it.

Also, kindly confirm if you’re using the new native WordPress editor (aka Gutenberg), or you’re using the Classic Editor PLUGIN (or some other plugin).

    Standing by to help.

(Aside: each to his/her own, but, personally, I would rather LINK to the form page, rather than embed this long form at the bottom of an already long page. Also, as this will surely be an iframe embedding, you’re likely to see scrollbars on mobile devices, unless your theme supports responsive iframe embedding or you can write custom code or find a plugin to do it yourself.)

UPDATE: From a quick search, it appears the error message “Sorry, this content could not be embedded” is displayed when you’re trying to embed a non-embeddable link in the Gutenberg Embed Block.

Note that embed block is specifically for embedding links from websites that support “oEmbed”. This is mostly video sites, like YouTube and Vimeo, and some website links (eg WordPress) which allow you to embed just the videos or pages by using the URL to their full page on their websites. You can see a list of supported websites here.

In your case, to embed a Google Form form in your site, you should copy the EMBED CODE from Google (this is an iframe code, not just the link to the form code) and place all the code in a CUSTOM HTML BLOCK.

Thank you very much for your time and this lovely explanation. Yesterday I tried everything under the sun and it would not work but today it does.
I did make sure to use the embed code but I was embedding it like a youtube video. Rookie mistake and sorry for the trouble.

    Thank you again. ??

I am going to remove all the text before posting the form. Agreed it is too much to scroll through. Is there any way to contact you privately? Someone I know is looking for a developer and I think you may be perfect.

I apologise in advance if I am off topic but I couldn’t find any contact info.

This helped me too!! Thank yoU!!

    Hello @beautifulsoulo,

A small tip. When you embed the HTML code adjust the height this is what it will look like ” width=”700″ height=”7500″ frameborder=”0. As you can see I have already readjusted the height to 7500.

In this way, you will remove the scroll that appears on the side of your form after you have embedded it.

I wouldn’t enlarge it so much because your form may be longer or shorter. So increase it by 500 at a time and preview it in a new tab.

    Hope this helps.
