    Hi.
Considering the problems with google fonts I would like to know if there will be a final version of the theme that does not use google fonts or at least has them in a local folder.
I tried different plugins that offer to find used google fonts and make them available locally but all of them failed to even find the used fonts because of the way they are used in the code.
Right now I am going though every css file by hand to delete every mentioned google font, which of course changes the look of the site drastically but I really dont know what else to do.

    Hi there,

Please note that the Merlin theme is retired and not developed further, so I highly recommend to switch to one of our newer themes.

Besides that, all our themes host fonts locally since 2018, please see our announcment post on https://themezee.com/2018/04/updates-for-the-gdpr/

If your website still loads Google fonts then some other WordPress plugins are reponsible for it, not the Merlin theme. Please also note that Google services load Google fonts, so if you embed a Youtube Video, Google reCaptcha or Google Maps you get the Roboto Google Font as well. Make sure to get consent from visitors first before loading these services.

    Cheers,
    Thomas

    Hi.
    Thanks for your reply.

I also thought that the fonts are stored locally but one of the checker websites gave a warning and so I checked with the chrome developer console and noticed the theme itself loading a google font.
I did install a backup of the theme today to check that again and did get no warning.
I am not sure what caused it but it seems to be working now.
Maybe the reinstallation forced an update of the theme that fixed it.

I know that Merlin has been discontinued but unfortunately I haven’t decided which of your themes to use instead, because I want as less changes as possible so my users don’t have to get used to a website with a completely different look.
Maybe you can recommend one to me?

Our Dynamico theme has a similiar layout and design: https://themezee.com/themes/dynamico/
