So I went through the whole Google Drive setup process and there were no errors. I authorized within Updraft with Google Drive and there were no errors. When I performed the backup it said it accepted the token. However, when I went to backup, I received 4 sets of the errors noted in BOLD, then it waited x # of seconds and tried 4 more times; this repeats over and over again. I had to manually cancel the backup.

When I hit cancel it gives me this message:

Failed to upload to Google Drive: failed to access parent folder (Operation timed out after 15000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received)

I also have the Ithemes Security plugin installed; could it be blocking access from Google Drive, if I am reading the log correctly as who can’t read who?

    Hi,

That’s a network connectivity problem between your webserver and Google Drive… you’ll need to talk to your web hosting people about that. (It might be something as simple as a firewall blocking it deliberately).

    Best wishes,

So I went through the whole Google Drive setup process and there were no errors.

N.B. – The setup process doesn’t involve the webserver talking to Google Drive at any point… the oAuth protocol involves your browser talking to the webserver, and your browser talking to Google Drive, but not the webserver to Google Drive. That’s why that was able to succeed.

OK, thanks for the reply. I will open a ticket with the hosting company, otherwise I will just nix the whole cloud backup thing and manually copy the files to my local pc.

SOLVED. I emailed Google Drive tech support yesterday to get the firewall settings and received an email last night that they were having technical issues with Google Drive. Figures this would happen when I just first set up cloud backups! There is no need to have my hosting company change the firewall rules, so I am going to close that request. I tried another backup today and everything worked. Here is Google’s email in the event that others were having problems:
