My back-ups seem to keep failing as it says Google Drive is not authorised although on the top of my settings page I get these contradictory messages:

    * Success: you have authenticated your Google Drive account.

    * Google Drive: Have not yet obtained an access token from Google – you need to authorise or re-authorise your connection to Google Drive.

I’ve re-authorised Google Drive several times now and even deactivated and then re-installed the plugin but the problem seems to be persisting.

Here’s an excerpt from the log file…

  • I have experienced this same issue for the past 3 daily backups – after over a year of successful and trouble-free backups.

I have also tried ‘un-authenticating’ then re-authenticating using the link on the UpdraftPlus>Settings page, but I still get the same token error.

I have also checked my GoogleDrive and GoogleAccount settings and they both show that Updraft is an authorised app.

When I click the ‘Rescan remote storage’ link on the UpdraftPlus>Backup/Restore page it still seems to be able to access the GoogleDrive and also I am still able to delete old backups on GoogleDrive from the list on this page – so there is a working link to the GoogleDrive account.

This is also the only website backing up to this GoogleDrive account.

I would be very interested to learn of any fix to this.

    Thanks ??

    Hi,

    The log shows:

“0099.948 (0) Google Drive: ERROR: Have not yet obtained an access token from Google (has the user authorised?)”

Can you please perform re-authentication step for Google drive from UpdraftPlus > Settings?

And also could you try to reduce the backup archive split size. This will split the backup into smaller, more manageable files.

To do this, open the ‘expert settings’ section of the UpdraftPlus Settings tab, and find the ‘split backups every’ option. Set this to 50Mb, save your settings and run a new process.

    Regards,
    Bryle

    Hi Bryle,

I have tried the re-authentication step several times but still get the same message and in my case (Im not the OP) the largest zip file size is only 12MB.

But I can still delete Google Drive files from the Updraft control panel so the connection is still working, just not for the backups.

    Hi Bryle,

I’m still having the same issues unfortunately. I must have reauthorised Google about a dozen times now (and I get their email alert telling me Updraft Plus has access) but I still get the same error message.

Reducing the file size from the default 400MB to 50MB didn’t seem to work either.

    Hi,

It is possible that the connection is being blocked by a firewall.

Do you have any security plugins installed? Can you try to temporarily deactivate and then re-authenticate it again.

Also, try using a different browser see if that helps as well.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

    Hi Bryle,

Thanks for the extra ideas. They didn’t work either unfortunately.

I think I’ll try another plugin solution as a stop-gap and then see if the next update for Updraft Plus fixes this.

Same for me – didn’t work still.

As a stop gap, if I manually copy the backup zip files from my website onto my google drive will then then be viewable/usable by UpdraftPlus from within the WordPress dashboard?

    Any other advice?

    Hi,

Do you have any further advice or suggestions about how to deal with this error?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the late reply.

Are you still having the same issue until now?

Yes, still the same I’m afraid. Set to a weekly back-up but it continues to say it is unsuccessful.

    Hi,

    Sorry for the delay.

Please can you share with us the latest copy of the backup log?
Do you also see any error message on the “Backup/Restore” tab or on the UpdraftPlus page on your website?

    Regards,

    Hi Bryle,

Just tried to back up again and it now says the process was successful so hopefully whatever the issue was has now resolved itself. Will post another message if it recurs – I usually only backup weekly.

    Hi Bryle,

Like itinvestor the issue seemed to resolve itself – in my case my daily backups succeeded from Feb 7.

They have completed successfully since – I can only presume you did something to resolve the issue – so thanks if you did.
