Google Calendar Feed overwriting event changes

    Hello,

    I am using AI1EC for events on my site and in addition I have a Google Calendar feed that is importing events. When the events are imported, they overwrite any changes made to the imported events on the website.

    Is this the expected behavior? Is there anyway to respect the changes made on the website?

    For example, an event is created on a Google Calendar and then via the feed is imported into AI1EC. From there, I added an image and more detailed info to the event on my WordPress site. Yet, once the feed is refreshed, all of my web updates are overwritten and the event defaults to what is on Google Calendar.

    We can’t add images to the event on the Google Calendar so how can we preserve the website updates?

    Hi,

    Our calendar recognizes events that are imported as being “owned” by someone else. Therefore, when the manual/automatic update occurs, it’s always going to overwrite the existing events. This ensures you are importing any updates, edited events or new events that have been added by the “owner.”

    As a workaround you can add a feed, delete the feed, and select “keep the events” when prompted. Now the calendar will recognize these events as being “owned” by you. Unfortunately, this means that you will no longer receive updated events since you are no longer subscribed to the feed.

    We have a “Preserve changes made to events retrieved from feeds” option with which it is possible to save the changes, but is only available in the hosted hub calendar.
