I was very impressed with the careful and comprehensive instructions at https://aquoid.com/plugins/photonic/google-photos/#api-key. to obtain an api key from Google (talk about having to jump through hoops for the big brother!)

I obtained a Client ID but, but Photonics failed on the ‘Authentication’ step:

    error 400 redirect_url_mismatch

I noticed in Step 7 of the Create Client ID section, that there are two options. I chose the first option, Desktop App, and all was well and I moved on without having to consider the second option, Web Application.

The Desktop App option doesn’t ask for redirect urls….but looking back at your instructions, the second option Web Application does ask for redirect urls. I found I couldn’t go back anywhere in the API console to provide redirect urls….on which the authentication is failing.

Have I missed an earlier stage where I should have provided a redirect? It did ask for a domain, which I provided – at least I provided the main domain, although my site is running in a sub-domain.

What would be your advice to correct the redirect urls? Or should I just scrap the API key and start over?

    thanks
    HJ

Unfortunately, if the desktop version is asking you for a Redirect URL, you will have to switch to the web version. This is another of those Google things, where the behavior is not consistent from user to user.
