Firstly, please bear in mind I am a total novice. I have just created website www.musicholidayitaly.com. If I type this full URL into a browser the site looks fine. However if I put musicholidayitaly into Google search, Google ask if I meant “Music Holiday Italy” (with spaces), which I accept. There I am on Google’s third page but when I click the link I get the dreaded “This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?” message.

The page displays my header and menus but not the contents (ie text) on the page. Also the featured photo is the wrong one.

Clicking on the menu options in the header works, including the “About” option which is what should be being displayed in the first place. I am using the 2011 Theme if that helps.

To summarise – Why when I type the full URL in my browser do I get the right result, but when I click the Google link all the text is missing and the photo is wrong?

  • Google probably indexed your site while you were working on it. Have you set up an account on Google Webmaster tools and learned about how to submit your site to reindexed? Lots of other great info there too.

BTW, when I put your domain name in Google, I get the correct About page. So maybe try clearing your browser cache.

I think your second comment may have missed the point. Yes, putting in my domain name does result in the correct About page. But doing a Google search and then clicking on my site in the search results produces the wrong page. (Enter “Music Holiday Italy” in Google and you will find the problem Google link for my site on the 4th page of Google results)

This is a worry because presumably the most common way for anyone to come to a site is a Google search rather than typing in the domain name itself.

BYTW apologies for initial double posting. Being a complete novice I am still feeling my way around.

I think you may just have to wait for Google to recrawl your site.
