• Hi,

I have set up a multisite with different (parked) domains as subdirectories:

I want to set up Google Analytics on one account for the main domain and all of the other websites/ subdirectories.

Do I have to create a new property and use a new tracking code for each new website/ subdirectory? Or is there a way that I can use one tracking code across all of the websites but have individual analytics per site, using Tag Manager or similar?

I am not that keen on a plugin but open to recommendations.

    Thanks,
    Grant

  • From Google Analytics’ point of view, the data of the different websites should also be collected via their own properties. You would therefore have to use a separate measurement ID for each website.

In WordPress, you can save yourself the work of activating and configuring a separate plugin for each website of a multisite installation by using a plugin that supports Google Analytics codes in multisites. The only plugin I know of is MonsterInsights. They also have their own article on this: https://www.monsterinsights.com/how-to-set-up-google-analytics-on-wordpress-multisite-network/
