Just an update, rolled back to v1.8.14 and all is working fine again.

    Hey @jtyekettle,

Thank you for confirming that tracking is working for you after rolling back to 1.8.14.

The initial implementation of consent mode released in version 2.0.0 required explicit consent given by users before data will be tracked to comply with Google’s requirements. We’re currently working on updates to make this more useable and resolve the issues reported here in the forum and will update you when we have the fix released.

    Hi @jtyekettle,
Did you notice any errors, in the browser’s console using 2.0? Did it stop tracking visitors only from EAA (Europe), or also from the other regions?

As per 2.0.0+ we configured the required Google Consent Mode. The configuration by default denies tracking for the visitors coming from EEA, to comply with the local law (like GDPR). So, it is somewhat desired to stop tracking that data until a visitor grants an explicit consent.

The consent could be updated/granted using another plugin. You can also tweak the default consent mode using woocommerce_ga_gtag_consent_modes filter.

Google claims to somewhat fill the gaps in data using their algorithms for visitors who didn’t grand the consent.

Also note, that this mode is required by Google since March 6th. Plus, rolling back to 1.8.14 could help, but non-consensual tracking is violating GDPR.

    Hi,

In my analytics dashboard there is also no data from my website since 18th of March. Probably I updated the plugin on that day. How can I roll back to the previous version?

    Hi anncosch,

You can grab previous versions from our GitHub repository, the previous version 1.8.14 (latest before the 2.0 change mentioned above) is here.

Let us know if we can help further!
