    Hi,

I am trying to set up Google Analytics 4 using the existing site tag. I have successfully connected the properties but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be working. I just followed the steps and looked at the documentation and can’t see what might have gone wrong in the setup. While the old GA registers my visit (real-time), I can’t see it in GA4 (no traffic in the past 48h).

I ran a check with the Google Tag Assistant addon and it gives me two errors:
    No HTTP response detected
    Missing analytics.js script

I can also see, that the code that is implemented using Complianz does not look the same as the tag that you can copy from GA.

So I was wondering if that might be an issue.

How can I get this to work? I wanted to use the existing tracking code. Or is the way to make this work to just add the add the new measurement ID in the Complianz setup?

    Many thanks

    Hi @touto,

    This:

    No HTTP response detected?
    Missing analytics.js script

Means it’s blocked prior to consent. The response is not there, because Complianz blocks it. Google doesn’t know the context of consent thus throws an ‘error’.

If you Accept All, or Statistics on your banner (with Tag Assistant enabled) you will see it register a pageview.

The reason consent is needed is most likely due to the fact you enabled Germany as a subregion in the wizard, whereby consent on statistics is needed.

There should not be a difference in using a UA, or G- tracking code with Complianz and consent.

Let me know if you have any questions, regards Aert

I assume that Aert’s suggestion above answers your question. I’m closing this thread for now, but please reach out to us if you have any further questions.

    Kind regards,
