• I launched a site for a client in early 2012 and installed analytics code in the box where it says to do so on the theme. The code matches up and when you view the source code, you can see the code on the page. So far so good. Here’s where things come apart- Google is saying that there have been 2 unique visits since we launched. I know this for a fact not to be true. Plus, google is also saying the code isn’t installed properly. How can it track 2 visitors if the code isn’t working? I don’t know if this is a WP issue or a Google issue, but if it’s WP I’d love a lifeline. Thanks so much.

  • My advice would be to disable the theme’s Analytics feature, use a plugin instead, and see if that helps.

The plugin I use is very minimal, you input your tracking ID and that’s it. Works like a charm.

Alternatively, Joost makes a much more feature-rich plugin, if you’re interested.

If neither of those work (and I know the first plugin works for me), it’s probably something else causing the problem. Maybe Google, maybe some weird server or DNS quirk?

EDIT: Forgot to add, it could be that a plugin you’re using is conflicting with the theme, to test that you’d have to disable all plugins and see if that fixes it.
