• Just a question:
Is it possible to take that barmy google analytics out???
when I enter theis wordpress forum then the page often hangs at google-analytics.
It doesnt make sense to have that hanging in there causing the page to discontinue loading.

  • if the page hangs it’s not because of the analytics; you download that once then it’s cached

It shows me google-analytics in the status bar and there it hangs.
In the status bar I can see how far the page is loaded and which part is being loaded.

when I see google-analytics in the status bar and from there it doesnt continue then I suspect that page.

In some other forums I have observed the same problem.

I as well have this problem…. can at times load extremely slow for me from the point at which I see the g-analytics listed in status bar to the full page loaded. Of course, I am on the world’s slowest dialup – makes a difference I’m sure.

It does not appear that, if g-analytics is caching, it’s stopping it from taking that much time to load every time….

Hm, I have never seen that.

Umm, which browser are you using? Is it hanging for you now?

Vicki, does it hang in Firefox v1.0.7?

    Haven’t tried it…. just using 1.5RC3. I’ll try it and “report back”….

(Yep, took an extra maybe 12 seconds to load that time…. FasterFox timer display is your friend….)

Very odd. I am on DSL, but I am noticing no abnormal slowness or hang with FF v1.0.7 and Safari v2.0.2.

I can’t find the button to post a new topic, so I’ll just post it here. When entering the URI for my blog in what I recall was the Options menu, WordPress doesn’t want to save my link with the mandatory ‘/’ at the end (i.e. “https://…/blog/” is saved as “https://…/blog”)—without which, doesn’t load my webpage properly. (I’m running my blog from a Mac Apache server) As a workaround, I tried entering “https://…/blog/index.php” but this just busted all the formatting for the blog, and it also broke my access to the Option menu in administration mode so I can’t change it back. I’m at a loss. ?? Can you help?

Hmmm. Along with yesterday’s codex cookie problem and the continuing google cookie problem in FF, I now cannot access ANY of the old versions I have installed. Well, I can get the browser to LOAD, but I can’t use any of the menu options. And I can’t type anything in the addy bar. *sigh* It really IS time to clean house I guess….

In any case, with 1.5RC3, support main page took 27 seconds to load, 15 from the time google-analytics showed up in the status bar to finish. To reach this topic took another 12 seconds, 10 from when google-analytics showed up in the status bar to finish.

If I get my older FF version problem fixed, I’ll try 1.0.7. Hate to go back though, I tell you!

btk, in order to post a new topic (which you really have to do for this, instead of hijacking a totally unrelated thread), you access the forum related to your topic using the list of fora at the bottom of the index page, then scroll down to the “new topic” area.

Please repost in the appropriate forum. Thanks!

If you can isolate this as yet another FF 1.5RC3 bug, now would be the time to submit (or add a comment if someone else has already submitted it).

Meaning the inability to access the older versions? You’re not referring to a slow load of g-a, right? That’s as likely to be my dialup as anything else….

Sorry, I was referring to the slow-load of g-a. I doubt that the ability to load older version of FF would be a concern for the v1.5 release, since you would technically replace your older version with it once it is released.

Ah – I’m space cadet-ish today, ain’t? Thing is, it comes and goes, as I said above – at times…. it’s working quite well right now, 3 seconds flat to load the index page, and another 2 on this one. I will read over the stuff at bugzilla, see if it seems to be my install, my install problems, 1.5RC3, or if it’s really most likely to just be 30 year old analog phone lines….

It happens with Firefox and with IE
In the status bar it shows something like:
    waiting google-analytics.com

    I got 2Mbps line here.

It sows that the google-analytics is delayed, thats why it is WAITING and thats why the page hangs often.
    Often, not always.
