Google Adsense Plugin activation failed

  • Whenever I try to install the Google Adsense, either manually or through the plugins page, it always gives me the error “Plugin activation failed. Your WordPress installation doesn’t meet the minimum requirements.” when I try to activate it. It doesn’t give any more details. How can we debug this and figure out whats not working?

    Adsense has just been absolutely horrible to set up every step of the way even with creating the account itself. I’m getting so tired of it im starting to wonder if there are alternatives

    Running on a digitalocean droplet
    OS: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
    Wordpress Version: 4.3.1
    Apache version: 2.4.7
    PHP Version: 5.5.9-lubuntu4.13

    Nevermind, I think I solved it. Restarting the apache server using /etc/init.d/apache2 seemed to solve the problem
