    Hi Mark,

Thanks for reaching out. That’s certainly not ideal to have ads covering your navigation menu. Based on the images you kindly provided it looks like there are what’s called Anchor ads being placed above your menu. Luckily you can disable this ad format from within your AdSense configuration. To do so follow the steps below:

    1. Navigate to adsense.google.com
    2. Click on “Ads > Overview”
    3. Click on the “Edit / pencil” icon to the right of your domain name where it lists all of your sites
    4. In the “Ad formats” dropdown de-select “Anchor ads”
    5. Press “Apply to site”

Let me know if that works for you, or if you have any further questions on the above.

    Greetings,

I’m not disabling that ad. I want to earn money.

That ad shouldn’t be throwing off the menu. I’m trying to figure out why is the menu reacting like that. I’m trying to fix the issue, not remove ads.

I have a feeling that someone who knows code/Wordpress/google adsense can figure this out or can fix it easily.

    Please advise.

Thank you and have a great day.

I understand, in that case what you can do is insert your AdSense code manually, while also defining anchor ads at the bottom only. (Anchor ads won’t appear on the top and the bottom at the same time). If inserting your AdSense code manually Site Kit can recognize this existing snippet, so you can still use the Site Kit AdSense dashboards for reporting. Here’s a guide on how to set it up.

While there are not configuration options within Site Kit that can alter this specific ad behavior have you also tested out different themes?

You may also consider using AMP on your site. While more restrictive on ad types ads tend to perform better. Just note that it can take a few days before Auto ads appear on your AMP site. If you activate AMP in transitional mode with Site Kit having placed your ad code on both your AMP and non AMP URLs you can perform a comparison of ad placements and also ad revenue.

If you’re simply looking to move the menu below your top anchor ad should it appear I’m afraid I don’t have any supporting documentation or snippets that would allow for this change.

    Greetings,

I had the same exact configuration with the WordPress 2020 theme and it worked perfectly.

I’m not changing my configuration at all. I’m going to keep contacting web developers until one tells me why the menu is acting like that and how to fix it with my existing configuration.

The official WordPress 2021 theme and Google Adsense auto ads should be able to work together in my humble opinion. I’m not changing anything. I’m not installing manual code.

I’m going to figure out how to make the existing situation work.

    Thank you ??

I understand, it’s a tricky one as it’s impacted by both the theme and also how AdSense logic determines the ad placement. I’m not sure you’ll find answers specifically on the official AdSense Help Center but have you tried posting your question to the AdSense Help Community? I couldn’t find any similar topic when searching the GitHub repository for the theme.

I agree, there shouldn’t be any requirement to manually insert code snippets. We may have additional AdSense specific toggle options within Site Kit going forward, you may find this GitHub issue useful to subscribe to. I the meantime if you find a solution feel free to share here should other users encounter the same issue. Sorry I can’t be of more assistance.
