    Hi –

I’ve seen this problem/question asked many times but haven’t found the response helpful to my situation.

In my Google Adsense, I am receiving a notification that says “To prevent severe impact on revenue, download an ads.txt file then upload the file to the root level domain of each site”

I have downloaded the file with the ads.txt, and am having trouble with the next step: to upload this file to my WordPress site. Do I have to install an Adsense plugin? (Should I already have done that?) Do I have to install and use an FTP?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • The same problem is happening to me. I’ve uploaded the ads.txt file into my root directory and still the warning stick to the top of my AdSense account. When I check in advanced ads for ads.txt file it says that advance ads will automatically create an ads.txt file for your site but Adsense is unable to find any file created by advanced ads and also advance ads showing an error that there is a third party ads.txt file in the root directory. Please help to get rid of this issue. Thanks in advance.

    Hi hellonotchmag,

You have the choice between uploading an ads.txt file manually to your root directory or use Advanced Ads to create that file automatically. If you do the first then Advanced Ads is no longer able to help.

The solution with Advanced Ads looks like this:

    1. install and activate the plugin
    2. go to Advanced Ads > Settings > AdSense and either connect to your AdSense account or enter your publisher ID manually
    3. go to Advanced Ads > Settings > General and save that page.
    4. check if there is a warning under the Ads.txt section on that page and report back if there is. Otherwise, check if the ads.txt file exists.

The warning in your AdSense account will disappear after a few days, sometimes weeks, which is normal because AdSense doesn’t check for that file very often.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

Thanks for providing this info. I’ve been having the same issue with the ads.txt files for months. I added it to my FTP in September but yet I still get the same notification. I’ve now deleted it from my FTP (not sure if I should have done this) and downloaded your plugin (Advanced Ads). I’m unsure as to whether in settings – general – ads.txt I need to select enable or disable. Ultimately, I’m still getting the warning from Adsense for my site.

I’d very much appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Once I had no problem with Ads.txt with Advanced Ads. but recently I got a warning in Adsense “Earnings at risk – You need to fix some ads.txt file issues to avoid severe impact to your revenue.”.

    So I checked Advanced ads-Settings-General-ads.txt.
it shows “The file was not created.”

    I tried to overwrite ads.txt but I couldn’t.
Still it showing “The file was not created.”

    How can I solve it?
    Thank you!
