Goodreads API and GoogleBooks accents

    Hi

    Seems that the ISBN is not reading info from GoodReads, after clicking fetch it keeps rolling (worked one week ago).

    I just changed to Google Books and it worked.

    BTW: Google Books info is correct but accents are not read it shows ? and you have to edit them manually, just to let you know.

    The GoodReads API is one of the worst and most difficult to work with, as the values it return changes depending on the book. For some books it will have info that is not available for other books or vice-versa. It is the reason I added Google Books as a fall back option. Google Books is more reliable but it is not as large as GoodReads.

    For cases where the plugin fails to fetch correct information for a book you will have to add the information manually.

    Thank you, Ill use googlebooks then, any idea why it doesn’t get the latin characters correctly?

    Not a big issue chaning them anyway.

    Which latin characters are you have issues with and where exactly are you using them?

    accents and the spanish letter “?”.
    This happens in the book backcover text that it grabs automatically from google books once you click fetch.

    Noticed the same in your side widget for latest reviews.

    I just did a test by fetching the data for “Hijos de Atenea” via the Google Books API and I did notice the misformed characters. From what I can see this seems to be an issue with the Google Books API and not something I can do anything about.

    If you look at this screenshot you will see the raw data from Google in the bottom of the screen.
