Good plugin but doesn't integrate with WordPress User Data

  • I really like the ease of use of this plugin, but was disappointed to find out that there is a disconnect between WordPress User data and this plugin data. If “Simple Membership members” are logged into your WordPress website, WordPress itself doesn’t know that they are logged in (because it’s stored in a separate table). This was very problematic for my site because I’m using other plugins which depend on knowing whether a user is logged in or not. I think adding this bit of functionality would really make this plugin great. Unfortunately, it won’t work for me.

    Sorry that this plugin didn’t work for you. You are right that the plugin maintains user info separately but that is completely in sync with wordpress database. so when you create an account in the plugin, it also creates an account in wordpress system and vice versa. when you log into the plugin, it also automatically logs you in wordpress system. we are happy to investigate if it doesn’t work this way.

    I am having the same problem. I am running bbpress plugin to run forums and the Display Widgets plugin to display certain widgets only when the user is logged in. Both of these plugins require the user to be logged in. However, when a user logs in using the Simple Membership plugin, they can see protected page content, but they are not logged into WordPress and cannot use the forums or special widgets. The only way for the user to access the forums and the special widgets is to log in using the WordPress login.

    If you know how to fix this (maybe another plugin is causing a conflict?), please let me know.

    @justmigrating please check the following bbPress plugin which integrates with Simple Membership plugin.

    I discovered the problem. In order to have the other plugins (bbPress, Display Widgets, Redirection) recognize that the user is indeed logged in to WordPress (after the user logs in with Simple Membership), the Adminbar setting for Simple Membership must be set to show. This isn’t a problem for me, but I can see that some site owners would not want to have the Adminbar show. When the Adminbar is set to hide, the other plugins (including bbPress) do NOT recognize the user is logged in.

    I am not seeing the same issue. I will do some more checking.
