• So I’ve been using Yoast for years now. I always was a happy user, it helped me a lot with SEO in pages.
Now my website is in need of a facelift. After a crash the website needed to be deleted. Out of my backups I started to create a new website and decided I wanted to use Yoast again. It is still a good plugin but if you want to use the free version, be prepared to receive numerous notifications to get you to pay for premium. For example, if you want to delete pages, posts or anything Yoast is connected to, you will get a separate notification with a flashy yellow button to get premium.
So, I am in the process of tackling a preview issue with my posts. I create different test posts and delete those again. If I delete 3 posts, I get 3 notifications. If I delete 10, I get 10 notifications etc.
This is absurd! Combining all the other locations where Yoast is advertising to buy premium, it was getting annoying which made me want to delete the whole website. So, I decided to get rid of Yoast and try other SEO alternatives. There are equal competitors on the web.

  • Hi @lobster01,

Thanks for your review and for using Yoast SEO for years.

Yoast SEO displays a limited set of ads/notifications in specific areas in the backend. For example, when you move a post to trash, Yoast SEO will show a notification suggesting you create a redirect to avoid a 404 error on the deleted URL. This notification will go away when you refresh the page or, alternatively, you can close it by just clicking the X icon in the upper right-hand corner.

These types of ads shouldn’t prevent you from using the plugin normally. If you delete several posts in bulk, you should receive only one notification. If you receive multiple notifications, you’re probably affected by this bug. Feel free to comment on the bug report with additional information, e.g. do the multiple notifications only appear for a given custom post type or for all post types?

    Thanks!
