Going live?

  • I am new to WP and CMS and was wondering about publishing etc. For example, how do you play with a design but not publish it live? I guess what I am asking is if there is a way to build a test site on my domain without having it go live (until I am satisfied with it etc)?

  • Yes and no.
    Once a WP script is installed on your site – it is alive.
    You can have a second installation in a subdir for test purposes (many of us have something like that), or you can have a local installation using XAMPP for building themes.
