Before install, check if your hosting server is compatible to avoid suspension

  • After my hosting provider suspending my account twice in two days, due to abuse of CPU usage, I′ve discover Mailpoet was abnormally causing this. I don′t know why and I had a lot of problem and lost too much time to discover this.

    I don′t know if this new update fixes this. It is a good plugin, but I′m afraid to update on my other websites.

    I found that Siteground is an incompatible hosting server (my case) and am trying later if that solution solves my problem.

    I have just carried out a test using Siteground with Mailpoet-3 version 3.6.3. So far, all looks good.

    However, I suggest that Mailpoet should re-implement the facility to use cron, perhaps indicating that cron is for advanced users only. I would feel more comfortable using cron.

    My test lasted one hour. During this time there were no user accesses to my site. Therefore the statistics below are probably only related to Mailpoet. No posts were made so this does not indicate if extra resources are consumed to cope with a post.
    Cpu time usage was 75 ( against a quota of 2,000 cpu seconds allowed per hour).
    Account executions were 52 (against a quota of 2,000 executions allowed per hour).

    You can check the article for Incompatible Hosts with the MailPoet Task Scheduler.

    SiteGround and Amazon EC2 are the two of the hosts we know that will disable your site if you use the MailPoet’s task scheduler.

    We suggest you use the “Visitors to your website” option.

    If you’re still having problems using this option, in a recent release version (3.6.2), we fixed it. Now the scheduled newsletter task no longer runs non-stop when this option is enabled.

    If this issue persists, please contact us using the little help icon on the bottom right of your MailPoet plugin and we’ll then be able to check this for you.
