I have tried installing this plugin, I get it to install without issue however when I go through the setup process the first thing I get is a message saying the site may not be ready for Google Site Kit.

I get through the setup and click on “Go to my Dashboard” with everything verified. Upon being returned to the site I either get a “Unable to authenticate Site Kit, as no client credentials exist” or it redirects back to “Sign in with Google to setup site kit..

I have disabled all plugins and themes on the site (left default twentytwenty theme) as a test, cleared broswer cache and it still failed.

I have successfully set this site kit plugin on many other sites without issue. When I go through sitekit.withgoogle.com from the plugin it shows all is ok though which is what makes this thing weird.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@nultz That’s unusual that your unable to access troubleshooting mode, it can be useful for troubleshooting plugins or theme conflicts.

Do you use the same theme and plugins in your other sites? It might be useful to know whether the same Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin work on those sites.

This site was built by another company. I have taken over the management of the site so in short, no we don’t use the same theme or some of the plugins used in this site on others.

The same health check plugin works on other sites we have built. I am starting to wonder though if it is a wordpress install issue rather than a theme or plugin as I switched off all plugins, with exception to google site kit and switched on the 2020 theme. I still got the same outcome on this site which is making me think possibly the install is damaged.

@nultz That’s interesting. There are a few methods to check problems with your WordPress install, such as the below:
    1. Do you notice any warnings or errors when using the Site Health information?
    2. Using the previously mentioned “Health Check & Troubleshooting” plugin do you encounter any warnings or errors, in particular with the “File integrity” check?
    3. Are you able to temporarily deactivate ModSecurity while attempting Site Kit setup? On one of my own test installs I ran into a related error for one particular site on the same host as other sites that setup succeeded with.

If your control panel allows for a one click WordPress install another option is to try and setup a new clean site, using a subdomain or subpath.

@nultz since we have not heard from you, I am marking your topic as resolved. Please do not hesitate to open a new support topic if you need further help.

@reneesoffice we tried disabling mod security as suggested and no change. I agree I think we will have to consider rebuilding the site in to a new template etc. thanks for your help.
