    Hi,

So I have been trying to install WP for a couple of days now. I finally solved an issue with changing my name servers from wordpress to bluehost, which means now I can finally install wordpress on my actual site instead of some other url. ANYWAY that is not the problem. The problem is, the install went successfully, but now, whenever I go to “yourwritingsucks.net/wp-login.php” it just goes to the wordpress.COM login, or if I am already logged in on there, my wordpress.COM dashboard.

Am I going to have to register a new domain to fix this?

    Thanks

  • I see a self-hosted (BlueHost) site at your domain. If you just recently changed the nameservers, that may be why you’re getting the old site – as it can take up to 72 hours for those changes to fully propagate – though it’s usually less.

But it may also be caching/cookies in your browser – so try clearing those.

I just ran a dig on your domain and it is showing up as connecting to a Bluehost server, confirming what WPyogi said above.

Propagation (time to update across the Internet) can be different by geographical location; some locations may update faster than others. I would be greatly surprised if you do not see the changes in less than 24 hours. If you’re still not seeing a difference, try clearing your cache and cookies in your web browser (again like WPyogi suggested above). If you need help on how to do that, here is a helpful link over at Bluehost’s helpdesk that explains how: https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/431

    Hope that helps ??

YAY! It’s working now! I guess i’m just impatient. Thank you guys for replying ??

Yay is right :)! Yep, there’s no way to speed up nameserver changes, so patience is it sometimes.
