• Hello,

I have an existing website that I would like to transfer to the WP CMS platform (for blogging, ease of social media plugins, widgets etc)

We are hosted on GoDaddy, and my question how to transfer the existing content onto WP.

(note: we have not installed the WP software, as of yet.)

Thank you in advance from a WP newbie!

    -Cara

  • Before you make any changes to your website you will need to learn how to use wordpress and that will take some learning curve so you can install in directory and learn how to use wordpress first.

I know WP.org platform is very customizable, but is it entirely different than wordpress.com? (which I use now for my own personal blog)

It’s not different at all really. I didn’t know they were different until I read it on the site after I had installed it.

ok…then at least with the templating/plugin part, I’d probably be ok.

I’m just really befuddled as how to make the transfer and not screw up any directories.

    another question…sorry for being dense

regarding multiple computers…can this be done “on the cloud”?

or do I need to make sure that WP software is installed on both computers, as well as FTP software?

wordpress.com and www.remarpro.com is same software
With self hosted www.remarpro.com there are no restrictions you can uplaod any plugins or themes and set it as you wish.
Wordpress hosted on a host server so you can manage from any computer.

    @govpatel

ok…glad I don’t have to relearn the wheel then…I am pretty comfortable with WordPress.com

so once WP.org is hosted (in our case, GoDaddy), we can manage it from any computer then? Makes sense, but this is all very new to me.

    thanks again, govpatel

Yes, once you install it your control panel becomes yoursite.com/wp-admin, instead of going to wordpress.com and logging in. It’s just like going to your website, which can be accessed by any computer.
