• Your Managed WordPress account, resortsinbranson.com, is under constant monitoring to make sure it remains secure and performs exceptionally well. Because of that, we’re emailing to let you know that on April 18, 2015 we removed the following plugins from your account:

    all-in-one-seo-pack 2.2.5.1

These plugins are on our blacklist (available here) for causing severe issues with either security or performance. Unfortunately, we have permanently backlisted all of these plugins, so you will not be able to use any of them on your Managed WordPress account. You’re better off without them, though – we promise. Everything’s already been taken care of, so there’s nothing you need to do, but we hope you can rest easier knowing we’re looking out for you.

So does my Pro version still work or is it DOA as well?

  • This looks like an obvious phishing scam or spam message. Google has no ability to remove a plugin from your site and they have never blacklisted any plugin.

I will bet that the link does not point to a Google page. Be careful about clicking on it. It could lead to malware.

Can you forward that email to me please – [email protected]

I’ll check it out with GoDaddy but given that none of the GoDaddy accounts we manage have received this notification I’d say it’s either phishing or unique to your site.

I have forwarded the e-mail to you. Let me know how it goes, Mike

    Thanks Mike.

I found their article that lists the plugins they blacklist and All in One SEO Pack is not on that list – https://support.godaddy.com/help/article/8964/managed-wordpress-blacklisted-plugins

Doh. I misunderstood the original message. I though Google sent the message. It was GoDaddy. It’s easy to call GoDaddy tech support to confirm the message.

I use All In One SEO Pack on all my sites hosted at GoDaddy, but have not received any message like that. The message may be limited to accounts using their Managed WordPress service.

The current version is 2.2.6.1. Perhaps they found a vulnerability in 2.2.5.1.

I just had a chat with them about this and they highlighted this part for me.

This is not an exhaustive list of disallowed plugins. Any plugin that fits into these categories or is otherwise known to cause problems may be added to the list or disabled at any time.

The Managed Word Press bit is interesting to say the least

Can you ask them if they can provide more detailed information as to why All in One SEO Pack, one of the most popular plugins for WordPress running on over 1 million sites, is on that list? Let them know that you’ve been in contact with me and that I’ve not received any communication from them regarding an issue with our plugin.

You bet – I will be more than happy to talk with them and to find out their reasoning and let you know.
