• Hi all,

I am braving the switch from WordPress.com to .org, and have stumbled at an early hurdle!

I purchased hosting with GoDaddy because that’s where I bought my domain. The domain is currently linked to my WordPress.com blog.

In setting up my new hosting package on GoDaddy, I stupidly opted out of automatically sorting out the DNS stuff there and then, deciding instead to manually do it later. It’s now later and I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing!

So I’ve sorted out the whole config bit (the first part of the “famous 5-minute installation”), but now I’ve reached a stalemate because I can’t get any further whilst the domain is elsewhere.

The only thing I have done so far is to go to the domain manager bit on GoDaddy and switch the Nameservers from the “I have specific nameservers…” option to “I have a hosting account with these domains”.

I daren’t touch anything else in case I do more harm than good!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  • You need to contact your hosts for assistance with this.

Keep in mind, any changes to DNS can take up to 24 to 48 hours to propagate or take effect. If you made DNS changes to your domain (i.e. changing the nameservers to GoDaddy’s nameservers that they provide to point to your hosting account) you may still be in the time frame to take effect. I hope this helps!

Just to confirm the hosting account is all set up and good to go right? Sounds like you made the nameserver change correctly. Also just make sure your A Record IP is set to your hosting accounts IP address. To find your hosting accounts IP see: https://x.co/cntL To learn how to change your A Record IP see https://x.co/moddns Hope this helps! ^Colby Go Daddy Social Media Team
