• After a long time with Yoast Premium, I have left. They totally lost their way. I have always renewed my membership manually without an issue. This year they took the money out of my credit card without warning. They claim they sent a message but they didn’t.

Plus, when I asked them to please revert back to manual renewal they said they could not do it, only if they cancel my account and open a new order of $0 with the same parameters set to manual! Sounds quite easy right? Especially for something that should simply be a tick on a box.
I contacted Consumer Law in Australia for guidance, and even though they claim they don’t give you a refund, they “opened an exception” and refunded me, when I made them aware I knew my rights as a consumer. This used to be the best SEO plugin in the market. Lost its way. Very sad

  • Hi @kangas,

Thanks for taking the time to write a review.

We’re sorry to hear you’ve recently left Yoast SEO Premium after a long time of being a premium user.

First of all, we’d like to clarify that we don’t force our customers to auto-renew their subscriptions. Customers can choose how they want to renew their subscription, manually or automatically, on the checkout page. For automatically renewing subscriptions, our system sends out a reminder email two weeks before the renewal date. Customers can cancel the automatic renewal of their subscriptions within our customer portal (MyYoast), as explained in this help article: https://yoast.com/help/can-i-cancel-my-subscription/

We understand that you wanted to cancel the automatic renewal of your subscription and keep receiving renewal reminder emails. Unfortunately, this is currently not possible in our system; when you cancel a subscription, you will no longer receive renewal reminders. That’s why our support team, as a workaround, offered to replace your subscription with a new manually renewing subscription at no extra cost.

We know all the emails exchanged with our support team caused you frustration, and also understand that you just wanted to keep receiving renewal reminder emails after canceling automatic renewals. This sounds quite reasonable so we’ve shared your feedback with the appropriate team members within the company. Hopefully, we’ll improve our customer portal to make this possible.

Thanks for your patience and we apologize for the trouble this has caused you.

    Thanks for your reply.

As I have mentioned several times to your support team, I did not receive any notification of the charges, nor did I choose the automatic. I had been on manual for some time and had no issues.

I hope other WP users read about my experience and the experience of others and reconsider before signing in. Most importantly I truly hope you change your practices. You were by far the best SEO plugin in the market, and now it just went downhill. So I hope my review (and those from other unsatisfied customers) were good to help you evaluate your current practices and change what is not so good about Yoast. All the best.
