    Hi all,

    First version out!

If it works great for you, please leave a positive review!

If it doesn’t, let me know here on the WP plugin forum or by email ([email protected]) and I’ll work on a solution ??

If your question is about Google News in general, not specifically about this plugin, please post your question on the Google News Publisher Help forum. I or one of the other regulars there will try to help!

    Hi Levent,

Interesting… so what is different about those two articles that the date is in Turkish, when all the others are in English?

    Chris

Trying to figure out why the rss feed stopped worging on my publication, wich has been aproved and is LIVE.

Searching for support I discovered your plugin. Unfortunately the error still persists.

Also it seems there is a conflict with the feeds for each categories.

    For example:
    https://itmaniatv.com/stiri/feed/gn

    returns

a Page not found error, so Google News can’t discover any content.

Also, altough I changed https://itmaniatv.com/feed/ with https://itmaniatv.com/feed/gn Google News still doesn’t update the content.

    Hi Boggyct,

I’m not sure why, but it doesn’t looks like the ‘pretty urls’ are working on your site for the GN Publisher Feed – but you can access it at: https://itmaniatv.com/stiri/?feed=gn

When you say the Publisher Center “stopped working”, what do you mean? What’s happening?

    Hi Chris,

Thank you, since my publication was approved I had some issues with the updates. Basicaly after a while the new posts published on my website were not updated on Google News. I am using the RSS feeds for Mailchimp alos and experienced same issues in the past. I’ve managed several times to fix it by using Fix My RSS plugin.

I think that there might be some conflicts with other plugins I use: maybe it could be someting with a security plugin (currently using Cerber, but I checked to see that options for RSS are unchecked), or maybe WP Cache Plugin has something to do, but I can’t seem to find any options.

Your solution worked on Google News, at leas for the main feed… so thank you. I edited the links for the sections I included also and I am waiting to see if Google News will update the content.

There are a number of publishers reporting slow updating from Google over the last few weeks. Some are using GN Publisher, others not, so it’s not related specifically to this plugin.

I’m adding a feature where GN Publisher will ping Google to notify them that the feed has been updated. According to Google, this will cause an immediate update.

I expect to have that feature in version 1.0.5 available in just a couple of days ??

    Hi Chris,
I’ll probably post later with questions, but for now, I just want to thank you for creating this plugin!

    Chris

    Hi again,

I’ve now created several sections in Google Publisher Center. I’m concerned that I may have filled out descriptions incorrectly, because I’m getting the dreaded “section is empty” error just before publishing. I’ve checked my feeds (described below) and the articles are there, just not showing up in Google Publisher Center.

When adding the sections, I used the WP plugin Chris created and set up the sections this way:
    Section Title (Name of blog)
https://websitename.com/feed/gn (repeated for 8 more sections)
I selected: Generate articles directly from feed or crawl
I also selected: Use website or AMP

    Did I do this correctly?

Thanks so much for your help!

    M.J.

    Hi MJ,

It may just be a matter of waiting a little while for them to update the feeds.

If you go to the Pub Center now, and refresh the page in your browser (not the refresh button in the Pub Center), does it have any articles in the ‘articles’ dropdown now?

    Chris

    Thread Starter christopheran

    (@christopheran)

Oh, also, be sure to select generate from feed. The crawl option doesn’t seem to work very well in the Pub Center – then use AMP if you have AMP available on your site (recommended),

    Chris

Thanks so much Chris! The tip about refreshing the PAGE is priceless! (So easy to assume that all we have to do is click “refresh” on the right side, when, in fact, we need to refresh the entire PAGE.)

So far so good! I see lots of articles.

    I have another question, though:

If I list “https://websitename.com/feed/gn” as one of the feeds–which lists ALL of the articles on the site that ALSO appear in the various section pages–will I be penalized for duplicate content? In short, should I remove that feed?

Regarding the app itself, it’s just GREAT. I hope you get lots of takers because it’s a thing of beauty!

    Thanks MJ,

It’s ok to leave that in, you can have articles that appear in more than one section,

    Chris
