Gmail gives security error – Sign-in attempt prevented
-
Hi,
I have searched a lot of posts on how to configure gmail. In fact, I have it configured in past successfully but this problem is a new one.
On the Test Config button, for the following configuration –
Protocol: POP3 Use TLS: NO Port: 995 Mail Server: ssl://pop.gmail.com Userid: XXXXX Password: XXXXX
I run into this error –
Sucessful POP3 connection on port 995 Unable to login. The server said:POP3 pass: Authentication failed [-ERR [AUTH] Web login required: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78754] For most other configurations I don't even get a connection success.
Also, I was sent a mail from Google –

Using a less secure app, on the other hand, could leave your account vulnerable. Learn more. Google stopped this sign-in attempt, but you should review your recently used devices: ---
I went to the page and told that yes this is a known attempt. Not Sure it is from Postie, kindly confirm –

For your security, we'll continue to show this device in the list for two weeks. You can also review this event in your Notification & alerts page. Kindly advise how to proceed. I still see the Test Config fail with the same error.
Thanks in advance,
Mayank
