    Hi,

This is in reference to an unresolved question on this forum from around 1 year ago. The reply from @capuderg said that this issue might be fixed with the next update. There have been a couple of updates, and so I wonder if it has been fixed and what I need to do. I will repeat the question here for ease:

I am using WP Mail SMTP and set things up according to your instructions for the Gmail API to send email using my free Gmail API. However, I receive an error message about SPF and two warning notes about DKIM and DMARC now. I did not receive these messages previously. The SPF error message says,

    SPF
Action Needed: It doesn’t look like the SPF record required by Google has been added to your domain. Please check out Google’s SPF guide for details on how to add this record to your domain’s DNS.

    DKIM
Action Needed: It doesn’t look like the DKIM record required by Google has been added to your domain. Please check out Google’s DKIM guide for details on how to add this record to your domain’s DNS.

    DMARC
Action Recommended: It doesn’t look like DMARC has been set up on your domain (thekokuin.com). We recommend using the DMARC protocol because it helps protect your domain from unauthorized use. Please check out our step by step guide for details on how to add this record to your domain’s DNS.

Do I need to add a new TXT record to my DNS settings? I use Google Domains. If so, what should it include? Any help will be much appreciated. I don’t want my customers to stop receiving email, and I am afraid that might be the case now.

I am using a custom domain for my “From Email” address in your plugin. My Gmail account is the free one, so just gmail.com.

Test emails are sent successfully, but I am concerned that it will be flagged as SPAM in the future.

    Thank you!

    Hi @mvenkadesan,

Thanks for reaching out! Currently, the WP Mail SMTP plugin does not have a way to recognize custom DKIM selectors, so you will see a warning when sending a test email.

However, if you have already configured your email platform with the correct SPF, DKIM records, you can safely ignore those test email warnings.

In case it helps, you can send a test email to this online tool to confirm your SPF, DKIM records.

    I hope this helps. Thanks!

    Hi @darshanaw ,

Thank you for the help. When I use the online tool, this is what I see. Is this what is expected or should I be configuring GMail free differently?

    Hi @mvenkadesan,

Could you please confirm whether you have configured the Gmail mailer using a free Gmail account or using Google Workspace?

    Thanks!

    Hi @mvenkadesan,

As I have tested with some Gmail accounts, when you’re sending emails from a Gmail account, it should not display such warning (see).

According to your previous message, you’re sending emails from a custom domain connected to Gmail. In that case, you can ignore those warnings and that won’t affect your email delivery.

    Thanks!
