I am the admin for a site using this plug-in – generally, it’s a game changer, amazing. The problem is for people who use gmail (almost everyone) in my group, they receive the plain text version of the email since gmail doesn’t support inline css. I wanted to know how I can change the formatting of the plaintext email so that there isn’t so much stuff (like people’s profile links and other extraneous stuff). Is there a file I can modify or can I use certain ‘shortcodes’ (for lack of a better word) in the buddypress email system to format the daily and weekly updates better?

In v3.7.0, we’ve added support for BuddyPress’ HTML email functionality.

If you are using a WordPress email plugin that has its own email system (like WP-Mandrill), you will not be able to use BuddyPress HTML emails and the content will fallback to a Markdown version of the email content. Unfortunately, that content is not editable at the moment.

The new digest emails should look like this:

I tested this in GMail and it looks exactly like the screenshot above.

I just installed this plugin and the notification emails are really ugly, plain text with long URLs. Looking here I found this thread. Would the message above also apply to using mailgun to send emails? I like the plugin, but it’s useless if it sends unreadable ugly emails.

It also doesn’t seem to be posting bbPress forum topics, and I thought that it would do that. It seems to be only sending updates to the actual buddypress group, not the group forums.

    Thank you!
