• I am struggling to get this plugin to work as wanted…

It is currently configured to send mail via the Gmail API but when I send a test email, it comes from the email address connect to the Google Developer Console and has no from name.

I have set the ‘From Address’ settings in the ‘Message’ tab of the ‘Show all Settings’ page but this appears to make no difference at all.

I have also tried setting email aliases (Google Apps) and send mail as (Gmail) but nothing seems to be change.

Please could you advise what I have to do to set a from email address and name?

    Thanks in advance.

Ah, I didn’t see the ‘make default’ link in Gmail to send as different user. By setting this, email now sends from another address but there is still no from name set. It just displays the from name as the email address.

Unfortunately Google OAuth 2.0 does not allowing spoofing. If you examine the session transcript, you will Postman sending the email you want to use, but Google changes it to your own upon receipt.

Google does have a work-around, if you can prove you own the address: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/22370?hl=en

Is that the same thing as what I told you? Send mail as?

    Thanks for your quick reply.

I still don’t get it the workaround though. I have set an alias in Google Apps and configured Gmail to send as a different email address (which required a name). As part of this, I have proved that I own the address (as it is on the same domain anyway).

Does this workaround not set the ‘From Name’ then or am I missing something? It isn’t great email practice to have a ‘from name’ displayed as ‘admin or ‘system’ which is what I currently have…

    Thanks in advance.

Yep, that’s what I already have set yes.

I was pretty sure that Google honours the name and email address set by Postman, once you configure the Send Mail As option.

Granted I haven’t tried it in a few months… can you verify in the session transcript that the message From header appears the way you want it? (Tools > Email Log)
