    Hi Guys,

I hope “Global Settings” is the right term.

My site was created by a developer with the Astra theme and Elementor. Both are pro versions. When I started figuring out why my site was slow, all test sites would show me unnecessary pieces of code left by Elementor.

It was more than a year ago. Astra has made some progress since then. My question is if I can get by without Elementor these days? I am not blaming Elementor. They have their own reasons for putting the code. Elementor has tons of features that I don’t use. I am trying to keep my site as simple as possible. Removing such a heavy layer as Elementor would make the site much leaner and faster.

Now, to Global Settings. Can I create the header and the footer in Astra so that
    1. I can use them throughout the site in all pages
    2. I can change settings for all pages from one place?
What else would you advise me?

    Much appreciated in advance.

P.S. Forgot to mention that Gutenberg was installed by default.

  • Hello @gm10

There are various factors, which could cause slow speeds. While we have seen pretty high-speed websites built with Elementor and Astra theme.

You can refer to this article to help you improve your website performance and eventually the speed.

While yes, Astra Pro does provide Custom Layouts and Page Headers module which can help you create Headers and Footers and assign on respective pages or throughout the website.

Or you can use the Elementor – Header Footer plugin which is free with Astra to create Headers and Footers without the Astra Pro. Here’s an article explaining the use of the same.

Creating Global Widgets using Elementor will help change settings from one place.

I hope that helps and answers your query. Do let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

    Regards,

Suman, thank you for the prompt response.

Yes, I understand. In Astra I can create pieces that I can re-use on many pages. Just to clarify my question. Let’s say I created a header in Astra and put it into 100 pages. Later I’d like to make changes to that same header throughout the site. Do I have to go to each page separately and make changes manually to each of the headers or I can change headers on all 100 pages from one place? It’s all in Astra, Astra Pro only.

    Thanks.

    Hello @gm10

Yes, the page is created and inserted to the specific filter which automatically applies on all the pages.

You can give the free version of the theme a try and use it on staging or on the local environment to see how it goes.

These are the Visual Hooks that Astra uses on attach on specific sections of the website.

    I hope that clarifies.

    Hi Suman,

Thank you for checking with me and all support that you provide in the Astra forum. It makes your company stand out.

I got the impression that with Astra Pro I don’t have to use an additional page builder to create a fully functional site. Maybe some fancy features would be missing. I can leave without them.

I need a lean site that is easy to support. I would appreciate it if you could clarify regarding a site builder.

    Appreciated in advance

    You’re most welcome, @gm10!

And thank you for such kind words.

While Astra is a WordPress theme that will allow you to style your website globally and the Astra Pro version helps add a few advanced features.

As a theme, we do support the default Editor which is currently the Gutenberg editor.

You can add your content from the editor, and all the styling can still be controlled by the theme. We even free addons for the Gutenberg editor.

Also, we have a Starter Sites plugin using which you can import ready-made websites which will help you import and customizer your website easily without starting from scratch.

You will also find Elementor, Beaver Builder, sites.

In a nutshell, Astra does work flawlessly with the default editor – Gutenberg and other page builders like Elementor, and Beaver Builder too.

But Astra is a theme that will help you style your website, and Astra Pro will add some more features to the theme, but for adding contents you will need to either Gutenberg or some other page builders.

I hope that helps and answers your query.
