• Hello,

I’ve searched on the web and could not find a plugin which can toggle enble/disable sidebar appearance on a whole WordPress web site.

I’ve found some workaround to comment out the line get_sidebar(); or empty out the sidebar.php. But this way I have to edit the theme every time I install and activate a different theme.

So I’m really looking for a plugin which can control global sidebar settings. If anybody knows something about it, please let me know. Thanks.

Unfortunately it’s not possible to globally disable all sidebars in all themes without hacking the core files. When get_sidebar() is called, WordPress will always try to load a sidebar template, either from the current theme or wp-includes/theme-compat/sidebar.php if that fails.

Of course, you can disable any widgets in the usual way if the theme is widgetized, but that may still leave empty mark-up on the page where the widget area is.

I see. I’ll go with the workarounds then.

Thanks anyways, for taking time for the response.
