    Hi,

I’ve configured the GiveWP plugin and it works with Stripe. But I have not been able to get the PayPal plugin to work, it is not on PayPal’s end as I have contacted them and I’ve followed all the steps to troubleshoot. I am able to connect the PayPal business account but then when testing out the donations function I receive an error that states ” this organizations page is broken ” I have attempted disconnecting and reintegrating Paypal with the plugin but it’s the same process, accounts says that it’s activated but it does not work to submit donations. Please advise.

    Thanks,
    Elle

  • Hi @elin2019,

Glad you reached out, we’ll get to the bottom of this PayPal issue.

First, I’ll need a little information to get started:

Send along your system information. Your system information is one of the most helpful tools for us to use when we start digging in to a potential issue. It gives us a peek at your site’s environment, which can give us helpful clues. You can do this by navigating to Donations > Tools > System Info (tab) and click the button to “Get System Report” and copy/paste that in your reply here.

Next, I’ll need to know which type of PayPal you are trying to connect to. GiveWP supports integrations for PayPal Donations and PayPal Standard, and I’ll need to be sure which one you are working with.

One very quick tip here: A common reason we see this is when folks connect to PayPal Donations, but are actually intending to use PayPal Standard. You’ll want to double check that you are connecting and activating the same type of PayPal.

Once I have a little more context, I’ll be able to hop right in. Let me know if you have any questions about this, I’m happy to help.

    Hi Stephanie,

Please see the system report below. We are using PayPal business account. I assume that would be a standard PayPal account. Please let me know how I can verifyany specifics regarding the Paypal integration.

    Thank you,
    Elle

    Hi Stephanie,

I was able to resolve the issue. The PayPal setting was set to donations BUT the PayPal account is a Business account. So, standard, once I disconnected and reintegrated using the standard setup it worked! – Thank you for your help. A quick note – I think the plugin is excellent, love that you can customize it and color code it to match your branding colors. But I think as I was researching while troubleshooting the issue the app needs a better description of how to integrate with PayPal as I saw many others describing the exact same issue. Perhaps you can just add the info regarding the two PayPal account setups in the plugin dashboard. I think it would help a lot as the ” how to ” is not as descriptive as your feedback to me was ( Unless I missed it somewhere in the tutorial section.

    Thanks again.

    Best,
    Elle

    Hi @elin2019,

I’m very happy to hear you are connected, that is great news!

I’m also very happy that you shared your thoughts about the clarity of the connection process with PayPal, and your experience with our documentation. I happen to be the Documentation Project Manager here at GiveWP, and feedback like yours helps me make necessary changes so our users have the best possible experience when they are in those docs. I’ve added this to our roadmap as a point for improvement for both our knowledge base, and as a possible notation in the admin screen. GiveWP users should never walk away from our docs confused about setup, and I am more than happy to make those changes happen. Thanks again for sharing those insights!

Because you mentioned enjoying customization, I also want to send along a couple links to keep you up to date on a big project our development team is working on: GiveWP 3.0 and NextGen. It puts customization for donation forms right at your fingertips.

This is a mini informational article written by our Head of Development that shares some details: https://givewp.com/lps/next-generation-donation-forms/

And we have a video with some NextGen information here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCN_M5xvPNY

I think the NextGen is going to be a really great fit for you, so definitely give this a look. In the meantime, if you have any questions moving forward you can create a new ticket here and we’ll be happy to give things a look. Have a great day, and happy fundraising!
