I’ve tried posting on Caldera but so far no answer, so I thought I’d try here too. We have the Caldera form to let a user submit fundraiser posts. We just have one issue: we can’t figure out how to connect the ‘category’. Does anyone know a way to add an option for a user on Caldera forms to select the Donation’s category? It’s only showing us an post option field (which has nothing in it since all our posts are the custom donations).

  • Hi there,

We’ve actually written an article on using Caldera Forms to create and control the settings within Give forms.

Here’s the link to this article:
    https://givewp.com/create-a-peer-to-peer-give-campaign-with-caldera-forms/

While this article and video don’t cover assigning a category specifically, this will be a great place to start for extending this further. Thanks!

?? That is the problem. We got it all set up following that guide and then ran headlong into the category problem. Caldera only seems to recognize the regular wordpress categories, not the custom post type categories. I keep thinking I must be missing something but there are no instructions!

(For that matter, I found the same thing reading the instructions for the other forms: no mention of tying into that category field.)

    Hi there,

Up on the top menu line in the Cladera form editor, you’ll see an option for “Processor”.

Click on this setting page, and scroll down to the “Taxonomies” section.

If you’ve already created the field in the form that will hold the category value a list of fields will populate when the field is selected. Just pick from the list which field you set up.

Then save the form, and you should be good to go.

    Thanks.
