Hey everyone – I’m playing around with the ‘Gift membership’ code, which does work & is generate a discount code, etc. but the user Experience is a bit crazy, right?

Has anyone come up with a good solution for someone to purchase a Gift Code, and send an email to the recipient? It;s slightly annoying that the gift giver then is setup as a Member, although doesn’t have access to the content.

The way I currently have it set out is that the gift giver would have to Copy & Paste the code to the recipient, and then I will have to build a ‘redeem gift voucher’ option on the front end of the site, with a link to the checkout with that level ID in the URL, for them to enter their gift code.

If I want to allow gifts of monthly / yearly, I’ll have to have multiple buttons, to the individual checkouts. Is this what other people have done? I’d be really grateful if anyone could share their insights!

  • I haven’t tackled it yet but I was planning to… wouldn’t it make more sense that you could simply purchase a membership for any level, either as a one-off or a subscription, give the resulting code to someone, and when they sign up to the site they just enter that code and it’s redeemed?

    Thanks @andrewza – I really appreciate that.

@reelscene – This is exactly what currently happens (the gift giver essentially signs up for a membership but with no access to content, and a code is generated that they can give to someone to use at checkout to get access to a real membership)

It’s just the logic / UX I’m having a bit of an issue with
