GIF Images Getting Corrupted During Upload

  • Hi,

    I have uploaded some GIF images to a post of mine, but during the upload process the images seem to have some corruption. When I view the original images on my PC (both at work and home) they are fine. However, once I upload them to WP and publish the article, the images seem to be corrupted. (They look fine when in preview mode prior to publishing and when in Edit mode)

    I have viewed the same images on the site on 3 separate computers, and have attempted to re-upload the images from 2 different computers (home and work) but have the same issues.

    Is there a known issue regarding GIF (or other image files) getting corrupted when using the default uploading mechanism built into WP?

    Prior to 3.6.1 I hadn’t ever had an issue with GIF images.

    No. I can only assume that the issue lies in the images themselves.

    That’s the issue though. The images are fine and display fine on the local PC.

    I tested uploading them again, this time to my SmugMug account and they display just fine.

    Something is affecting them during the upload. Is compression applied to images?

    Not that I am aware of.

    I’m having a similar issue Images print, and display fine until they are uploaded to wordpress. Once uploaded they have weird artifacts within the image. I feel like they must be getting compressed. unlike the OP even the preview in my media library looks messed up, but I’m not using animated gif’s just the particular graphs optimize better as gif over jpeg.
