• I recently changed the header image for my blog to .gif from .jpeg. The header no longer loads in internet explorer, yet works in firefox and safari. Any ideas or suggestions as to why this is happening?

  • hey, I bought a new jacket, do you think it goes with my shirt?

…oh I suppose you might like to see it first, right?

Please link your blog… any answers given on the basis of your post here are pure conjecture with absolutely no basis in fact, unless some observations can be made.

    anybody?

oh now you’re bumping impatiently, like I was supposed to hang around and wait for the URL.

    Well, here’s the deal.

https://donclothing.com/blog/wp-content/themes/blackbox/img/don-blog1.png is the image in question.

for some reason, your animated .gif has a .png extension. Confusing? IE thinks so.

i changed the gif to a png after i read somewhere that pngs work better than gifs in IE. this did not work…

    sorry for the bump

i tried putting the jpeg back in place and it didnt load in IE either. So it must be something with the code?

if noone can figure it out, is there a way to have the header image rotate when refeshed.

    any suggestions?

Mate, whatever you did when you switched to a PNG didn’t actually change the file type, just the extension. I haven’t looked again, but when I looked the first time you were displaying an animated gif, with a png extension. I opened it in a graphics editor to be sure.

hey, i uploaded a png gif and jpeg. so by changing the extension, i changed the file as well.

To start with, correct your code here . . . https://validator.w3.org/

If you don’t start with clean code how can you ever find the problem?

any suggestions? I really need to figure this out….

Obviously your problem is that you simply changed the extension on the .gif to a .png…

This does NOT change it to a PNG. To do so you need to open the .gif in a graphics editor and re save it as a PNG.

This should be obvious to almost anyone… especially AFTER Ivovic’s comments about doing so.
