• Hi,

My WP panel shows that I have “315 posts, 4 pages, contained within 12 categories and 701 tags”

However, I only have about 50 tags. I messed up in MySQL and now I don’t know how to fix it. When I try to manage tags, it shows dozens of blank pages with no tags at all, but somehow wordpress is still counting them. I’m afraid this issue is slowing down my database.

Please, does anyone know how to fix it? I’ve been struggling to fix this for the past 3 months or so.

    Thanks in advance.

  • But in Manage->Tags, will it allow you to check each blank Tag and then hit the Delete button?

No, it doesn’t allow me. Actually, there’s the delete button, but there’s no blank tag. It shows me dozens of pages with nothing in it, but somehow wordpress is still counting 700 tags in the database. I erased the tags manually in MySQL but they’re still being counted by wordpress. They don’t exist, but wordpress panel still shows 700 tags in the home panel. I try to delete and nothing happens.
