• On one of my sites have appeared the plugin “Akismet Anti-Spam” and “Hello Dolly” (as you will understand, I have not installed ‘Hello Dolly’) Although they appear in the admin panel, in the plugins folder are not… And even if I delete them, when I get back in, they appear again…

If I click “Inactive (2)”, they disappear… but if I disconnect and reconnect, they reappear…

Have you ever seen such a case?

    Thanke

“Akismet” and “Hello” are NOT ghost plugins.

    They come with the WP.

However, you have the choice to:
    activate them
    Deactivate them
Remove them if you don’t want to keep them

It’s been many years since I removed those plugins… As I said… Although they appear in the admin panel, in the plugins folder are not… And even if I delete them, when I get back in, they appear again…

What’s happening to me is not normal…that’s why I’ve titled “ghost plugins”.

If you participate in beta testing program – they can be reinstalled, as they come bundled with RC’s and beta’s
(same goes with twenty* themes, beta/rc packages bundle all older themes)

release packages should not bundle akismet and hello dolly

Hello… I have entered the site administration from another browser, after deleting cookies… and the incident has disappeared… It is something very strange, but apparently it is related to the browser cache… Is it possible?

Dashboard pages should not be cached by browsers.

There been some bugs with MS IE, but otherwise it is not possible.

The issue occurs in Microsoft Edge. If I log in to a private tab, without cookies, the plugins do not appear, but if I log in to a tab with cookies, the plugins appear again.

In any case, this is still a paranormal phenomenon… since those plugins have not been on my sites for many years…

Another incident that occurs in “Microsoft Edge” is that I can access the administration without having to log in…
